Meeting with Kailash Satyarthi

Nobel Peace Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi has been fighting child labor and slavery for more than 30 years. For his incredible achievements, he has been praised by imminent personalities like President Obama, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, or his holiness the Dalai Lama. Yet this is something else that I want to share with you today. I want to share a personal story with Kailash Satyarthi.

In fact there is something special that hits you when you meet with Kailash. Something that you will not find in the newspaper: what hits you is its humanity. The warmth of its hugs, the kindness of its gaze, the tenderness of it group selfies, the cohesion of his dedicated team. Everything works swiftly. But everything is done with humility.

Nothing can stop Kailash Satyarthikalaish

During the last Nobel Peace Prize forum in June, I met with a close collaborator of Kailash. He showed me pictures of him and Kailash. These pictures were taken in India probably 10 or 20 years ago. One of the pictures caught my attention. They were sitting in a village with children around them. Yet the gaze of Kailash was very special and intense. I asked what the context of that picture was. The answer came spontaneously: they were in a village and thought their last hours had come. “Bad guys” were after them because they had saved those children. That time again they have been lucky, but for how long?

Kailash has dedicated his life to the fight against child slavery. He has risked his life many times. He said he would dedicate his entire life to eradicate child labor. With Street Art for Mankind, we feel committed to help him, as much as we can!
